Advantages of dental implants compared to conventional treatments >>
The implant has the task of giving a stable foundation to the new tooth. When the implant is firmly anchored in the jaw, the tooth replacement can be secured to the implant in the form of a single crown.
Normally using conventional treatment without an implant healthy neighbouring teeth have to be ground down to attach a bridge (see picture below). This is how they are prepared for a crown or bridge and are used to take over the carrier function. The ground down teeth are permanent as the removed dental substance is lost forever.

However a huge advantage of using one of the treatments with an implant is that the dental implant takes the place of the tooth root and acts as a post for the implant crown. This means that grinding away the healthy neighbouring teeth is not necessary.
